3CON AWARDED WITH THE BMW SUPPLIER INNOVATION AWARD 2018!

The BMW Group has been working successfully with suppliers for over 100 years. As important partners, they are key contributors to the development and implementation of vehicle innovations and to the success of the company. On 21. November, five suppliers were presented with the BMW Supplier Innovation Award 2018. The company honoured top-class suppliers from around the world with this award for their outstanding innovations and development. The motto of the ceremony in the BMW plant in Landshut was: “Turning Visions into Reality”.

“I am delighted to be here today, at this awards ceremony, in my new role, which is as exciting as it is fascinating,” said Dr. Andreas Wendt, Board Member for Purchasing and Supplier Network as he greeted over 250 guests from all over the world. “In Purchasing and Supplier Network, there are four challenges that we must reconcile perfectly: Innovations, flexibility, quality and costs. All four depend on excellence.” Board Member for Development Klaus Fröhlich sees functional collaborations as fundamental to the success of the BMW Group: “Our task in the E division is essentially to secure the technology leadership of the BMW Group. The only way we can achieve innovative technologies for our products and services is by working together.  So, working partnerships are crucial to our success.”

3CON wins in the category “Productivity”

Profitable growth is central to any productive company. It contributes not only to its competitiveness but also to its flexibility and sustainability. The BMW Group has set itself the task of reducing the consumption of resources per vehicle manufactured by 45 percent. 3CON  has come up with a record-breaking innovation in the category “Productivity”: The fastest press laminating machine in the world for bonding sewn leather and artificial leather coverings onto injection-moulded substrates with cycle times of just 30 seconds. The system utilises rotating combination tools to help reduce production costs by more than 80 percent. Thus, 3CON won in the category “Productivity” against strong international competitors.
